All Lotus Notes databases should have both an About this database and a Using this database document created before the database is deployed.

The About this database document is the initial document users see when they open a database for the first time. Some of the detailed information that should be included in the document is as follows:

• What is the purpose and main function of the database
• Who should use the database and are there different levels of access for different user groups
• When the database should be used
• How information is obtained and is it sent elsewhere
  
  
• Name and telephone number of the database manager(s) and backup database manager(s)
