The typical lifecycle of an Opportunity in Customer1:
- Lead Management creates a lead and the lead will be assigned to a sales rep. When the sales rep believes that the lead has potential, he or she accepts it. After the sales rep validates the lead, he or she then converts it to an opportunity. The opportunity may also be created by the sales rep from scratch.
- The best practice is for the opportunity to be assigned potential revenue figures for each product or service of interest as well as the expected close date. This information ultimately drives forecasting in Customer1.
- The primary sales user and sales team work the opportunity through the GISS process. Their goal is to capture as much information as possible, including the Customer's needs and requests for quotes.
- At the end of the sales cycle, the opportunity owner, working closely with his or her local Field Sales Controller, closes the opportunity status to Closed-Won or Closed-Lost. It may also become inactive for reasons such as the project was cancelled, the company was acquired, etc.
