Creating a Contact

You can create Contacts the following ways in Customer1:

 

 


Create a Contact from the Contact Component

  1. Select Manage Customers, then Manage Customers, then Use, and finally Maintain Contacts.

  2. Click the Add a New Value hyperlink. This takes you to the Contact component.

  3. Complete all required fields on the Contact component:

    Personal Info: First Name, Last Name, Contact Flag, Preferred Communication, Status (Contact Flag, Preferred Communication, Status all default, so the minimum entry required by you is the Contact's first and last name)

    It is not required to create an address, phone, and email for new contacts. However, if these sections are populated, the following fields are required:
    Address Detail: Effective Date (defaults to current date), Status (defaults to Pending and is read-only), Address Type (defaults to Business), Address ID (system generated)
    Phone Info: Phone Type.
    Email Info: Email Type, Email Address.

  4. Click Save.

This method creates a contact independently in the system. If you need to associate a contact to an account, navigate to the customer component to associate the contact to the account. The next method will show you how to achieve this.

Create a Contact from the Contacts Page of the Customer Component

  1. Select Manage Customers, then Manage Customers, then Use, and finally Maintain Customers.

  2. Enter Search Criteria Information, and click on the Contacts tab.

  3. Click the Add Person button.This takes you directly to the contact component.

  4. Complete all required fields and click Save. The contact is created independently in the system. Use the Person Lookup button to associate an existing contact to an account.

Create a Contact from the Contacts List Page

  1. Select Manage Customers, then Manage Customers, then Use, and finally Contacts.

  2. Click the Add New Contact button. This takes you directly to the contact component.

  3. Complete all required fields on the Contact component:

    Personal Info: First Name, Last Name, Contact Flag, Preferred Communication, Status (Contact Flag, Preferred Communication, Status all default, so the minimum entry required by you is the Contact's first and last name)

    It is not required to create an address, phone, and email for new contacts. However, if these sections are populated, the following fields are required:

Create a Contact from the Lead Page

  1. Select Manage Sales, then Manage Sales Leads, then Use, then finally Sales Leads Details.
  2. Go to the Contacts section.
  3. Enter the Contact information and check the Create Contact checkbox

When the lead is saved, the contact record is created in the system. Remember that at this point this contact record is associated only with the lead, not with the company.

Create a Contact from the Opportunity Page

  1. Select Manage Sales, then Manage Sales Opportunities, then Use, then finally Opportunity Details.
  2. Go to the Contacts section.
  3. Enter the Contact information and check the Create Contact checkbox

When the opportunity is saved, the contact record is created in the system. Remember that at this point this contact record is associated only with the opportunity, not with the company.
