Logging on to an AS/400 system using Client Access Express
To log into an AS/400 system using Client Access Express, follow these steps:
Click Start, Programs, then click IBM AS400 Client Access Express or IBM iSeries Access for Windows.
Click Emulator
Click Start or Configure Session.
Note: If this is the first time logging on the a particular AS/400 system, you need to configure the connection, using the steps below.
In the Open WorkStation Profile window highlight the profile you wish to use, e.g. JDEC.ws.
Click OK.
You will be presented with the Signon to AS/400 window.
In the User ID: field enter your logon account.
In the Password: field enter your logon account password.
Click OK. You are now at the World Signon screen in the Session window.
Note: This will typically be Session A to represent the first connection made using Client Access Express.
On the User . . . . . . . . . . . . . . line enter your logon account again and press the {Tab} key
On the Password . . . . . . . . . . . . line enter your logon account password again and press Enter.
You will now be at the menu that is assigned to your logon account.
Configuring an AS/400 system to be used with Client Access Express
In the IBM Personal Communications window, click Configure or New Session.
You will be presented with the Configure PC5250 Window.
In the field System Name: enter the name of the system you are trying to connect to, e.g. JDEIOW
Click OK.
You will be prompted with the AS/400 Signon Information window.
Select Prompt Every Time.
Click OK.
You will be presented with the Signon to AS/400 window.
In the User ID: field enter your logon account.
In the Password: field enter your logon account password.
Click OK.
You are now at the World Signon screen in the Session window.
Note: This will typically be Session A to represent
the first connection made using Client Access Express.
On the User . . . . . . . . . . . . . . line enter your logon account again.
Press Tab.
On the Password . . . . . . . . . . . . line enter your logon account password again.
Press Enter.
When you have completed your work and you exit the session you will presented with the PC5250 window.
Click Yes to save the configuration definitions.
You will be presented with the Save WorkStation Profile as window.
In the File Name: field give the profile a name ending in .ws, e.g. JDEIOW.ws.
Click OK.
You will presented with the PC5250 window again.
Click Yes to add an icon for this connection to a folder.
In the Browse to Folder window scroll to the top and highlight the Desktop entry.
