Office 97 Assistant window gets smaller when idle
Note: This issue does not occur in Office 2000.
After 5 minutes of inactivity in a Microsoft Office document, the Office 97 Assistant window may shrink to a smaller size. To restore the Office Assistant window to its maximum size (about 1-1/2 inches square), click on its window or press the { F1} key. For information about changing the size of the Office Assistant window manually, see Eureka! document 15105 — How to change the size of the Office Assistant window.
To prevent the size of the Office 97 Assistant window from shrinking, follow these steps:
Right-click in the Office 97 Assistant window.
Click on Options....
Note: If you deselect the Move when in the way option, the Office Assistant window will not move out of your way when you are typing. You may have to move the Office Assistant aside manually (use your mouse to drag the window to another location.)
Click on OK.
The Office 97 Assistant window should no longer shrink after 5 minutes of inactivity.
