To remove the Office Assistant from your computer, follow these steps: ( Note: The instructions given in the Microsoft Office 97 help about how to remove the Office Assistants are not correct.)

1. Close down any open Microsoft Office 97 applications. You may leave the Microsoft Office shortcut bar up.

2. Launch Windows Explorer.

3. Navigate to c:\Apps\Office97\Office\Actors.

4. Delete all of the *.act files in that directory, but do NOT remove the Actors directory.

 

The Microsoft Office Assistant should no longer appear in your Microsoft Office applications.
