How to unhide columns in Microsoft Excel

Document number: 15146

In Microsoft Excel, columns can be hidden for ease of viewing or working on a spreadsheet. One or several columns can be hidden. They can be selected to be hidden on multiple pages as well. For more information about how to hide columns in Excel, see Eureka! document 16021 — How to hide columns in Microsoft Excel.

To unhide columns in Microsoft Excel:

  1. Choose the columns on either side of the hidden column(s) by clicking on them with your mouse.

  2. Select the F ormat menu.

  3. Select Column and select Unhide.

The hidden column(s) should now appear.

If the hidden column does not appear, make sure that you have not chosen the "Freeze Pane" option. For more information about that option, see Eureka! document 15145 — Cannot unhide columns in Excel.
