How to email a file from Word, Excel, or PowerPoint

Document number: 15164

To email as an attachment a file you are currently working on in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, follow these steps:

  1. Create the file in the application.
    • When you send the email, it will attach the latest version, even if you haven't saved it. To make sure you preserve the same version on your computer, you may want to save the file before sending it.

  2. Click on the File menu, then on Sen d To, and finally on M ail recipient (as Attachment)... If you do not have this function available, see Eureka! document 15170 — Do not have the "Send To" feature in Microsoft Office products.

  3. Lotus Notes opens.
  4. If Lotus Notes isn't already open, you will be prompted for your Lotus Notes password.

  5. A new memo in Lotus Notes opens, adds the name of your file in the subject line, and attaches your file to the email.

  6. Add the email address of the recipients you wish to receive the email.

  7. Add whatever comments you wish, just like a regular Lotus Notes email.

Your Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file will be sent as you have specified.
