Document number: 15166

To add more than one row at a time in Excel, follow these steps:

  1. Save the worksheet.

  2. Navigate to the row above which you wish to insert new rows. Select that row by clicking on its row number (the gray boxes on the leftmost side of the screen). Make sure that your cursor looks like a small white cross:
    • Example: If you wish to add rows above row 5 on your spreadsheet, select row 5.

  3. Starting with your selected row, click and hold the left mouse button and move your mouse downwards to select the number of rows you wish to add
    • It doesn't matter if the rows contain data.
    • Example: If you wish to add 10 rows above row 5, select 10 rows.

  4. Let go of the left mouse button.

  5. With your mouse, right-click on any of the selected rows.

  6. Choose Insert.

Multiple rows will be inserted above your selected row.
