What's new in Symantec AntiVirus version 8.1.1
Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition version 8.1.1 is the new standard AntiVirus protection software. The screen for version 8.1.1 looks almost identical to the screen for 8.0.1. Here is the main screen of the new version:

As part of the new installation of Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition version 8.1.1, the Symantec AntiVirus icon appears in the Windows system tray. It looks like this:

File System Realtime Protection. File System Realtime Protection constantly looks for viruses when a file is executed or opened. It also looks for viruses when modifications have been made to a file, such as renaming, saving, moving, or copying a file to and from folders. This feature removes the need for weekly PeopleScans.
You cannot turn off this feature.

With the implementation of Symantec AntiVirus version 8.1.1, "Parent Servers" have been established. These servers provide virus definition updates and software upgrades as needed. BackWeb and the network logon script will no longer be used to provide virus definition updates. The Parent Servers will also be able to gather information about individual machines and the state of their virus protection.
The Parent Server can be different for different network sessions depending on network traffic at the time you log into the network. You may see a different name for the server every time you log on to the network.
