Using bullets/numbering - ERROR: WINWORD.exe has generated errors...
The difficulty you are experiencing is that when you try to use bullets or numbering in Microsoft Word 2000, the error below appears. For some users, Microsord Word just closes down without explanation once bullets or numbering is used. Some users acquire this problem after loading Acrobat Distiller. Here is the error that may appear
WINWORD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created.
NOTE: The resolution below applies ONLY to Microsoft Word 2000 and in the situation described above. Do NOT use this resolution if you are not in this specific situation, or you may corrupt your machine.
There is a button to resolve this issue in the Software Library. Follow these steps:
Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.
You may need to look in your databases folder
for the Software library bookmark
.
If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see Eureka! document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.
Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.
Scroll until you see the entry Microsoft Office - All Versions and double-click on it to open it.
Scroll down the page until you see the button labeled Word 2000 Bullets & Numbering Fix.
Click on the button. NOTE: This fix should ONLY be used for Windows 2000 machines showing the error noted above because of the use of bullets or numbering. If your machine does not meet this criteria, clicking on the button may corrupt your machine.
