To make charts more easily read by other persons and groups, the following naming conventions are suggested:

• Tasks should be described using a verb followed by a noun(s).
  • Examples:
    • Gather requirements

    • Contact vendor

• A Transfer Point is represented as a task, and identifies a "touch point" to another process that is normally performed in conjunction with this process. The description of this task must contain the fully qualified name of the associated process. Begin the naming of every transfer point with a "T-"

  • Example: T-XXX

• The text within a Decision Point should be phrased as a question and always end with a question mark.

• Internal Control Points is a task with a reasonable assurance that business objectives will be achieved and that undesired events will be prevented. For example, a control would exist for purchase authorizations. Begin the naming of every control task with a "C-"
