Selecting existing tasks and adding them to a workspace in Process Modeler

In Process Modeler, you can add to your current workspace tasks that already exist in the model. Choose one of the following:

Selecting a single existing task and adding it to a workspace
Selecting several existing tasks at once to a workspace (Power Select)
Adding a new task to a model (Document 15339)

 

 

 

 


Select single task to add to workspace

The task needs too exist somewhere in the model before you add it to the current workspace. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the task icon Process Modeler - Task icon on the Object Creation Toolbar (see Eureka! document 15334 — Toolbars in Process Modeler).
    • You must click on the task icon for EACH task you wish to add. Once you add a task, your cursor will return to its default shape.

  2. Move your mouse to your on your workspace. Your cursor will change to a pointer and a small rectangle: Process Modeler - Task cursor.

  3. With your mouse cursor still in that shape, double-click on the workspace area.

  4. The Add or Select Object screen appears: Process Modeler - Add task.

  5. Click on the dropdown arrow to see a list of existing tasks in the model.

  6. Choose the task from the list.

  7. Click OK.
    • If the task already exists on the workspace, you will receive a message with some options.

  8. The task appears in your diagram, with a pushpin icon at the bottom of it: Process Modeler - New task

  9. Move the task into the desired place on your model. The pushpin will no longer appear.
    • If the task is already in the location you desire, you need to move the task just a little to get rid of the pushpin icon.
    • In order to anchor your objects (thus, removing the pushpin icon), your workspace must have at least one swim lane. The swim lane helps you to identify who is responsible for the tasks listed.

The selected task has been added where you specified.

Adding several existing tasks at once (Power Select)

You can add several existing tasks to your current workspace in one step:

  1. Click on the task icon Process Modeler - Task icon on the Object Creation Toolbar (see Eureka! document 15334 — Toolbars in Process Modeler).

  2. Move your mouse to your on your workspace. Your cursor will change to a pointer and a small rectangle: Process Modeler - Task cursor.

  3. With your mouse cursor still in that shape, double-click on the workspace area.

  4. The Add or Select Object screen appears: Process Modeler - Add task.

  5. Click on the Power Select... button.

  6. A Power Select screen appears.

  7. Choose the tasks you wish to add by holding down the { Ctrl} key and clicking on them.

  8. When done selecting tasks, click OK.
    • If the task already exists on the workspace, you will receive a message with some options for each task that already exists.

  9. The selected tasks appear in your diagram. They will have pushpin icons until you move the tasks to their desired location on your model.
    • If the task is already in the location you desire, you need to move the task just a little to get rid of the pushpin icon.

 

Your tasks should added to your workspace as you specified.
