Mandatory Connected software installation

This document applies to employees who have or will receive the Connected software package via an SMS mandatory push because they do not already have the software on their machine.

After package completes, pointing My Documents to c:\user folder

Move the files contained in the folder to which the My Documents icon points so that Connected software will back it up automatically. Then change your pointer on the My Documents folder on your windows desktop so that it points to the new location.

  1. Close the Connected software.

  2. Make sure you are not using or editing any files that are being moved.

  3. Close any applications that may be using files in your My Documents folder.

  4. Right-click on your My Documents folder icon on your Windows desktop and choose Properties.

  5. Take note of the information in the Target: field on the "Target" tab. That is the location to which your My Documents icon currently points.

  6. Launch My Computer.

  7. Navigate to the location to which the My Documents icon currently points.

  8. Copy or move the files from that current My Documents location to the c:\user\My Documents folder.

  9. Close My Computer.

  10. Right-click on your My Documents folder on your Windows desktop and choose P roperties.

  11. Change the information in the Target: field to c:\user\My Documents.

  12. Click OK.

Once you have moved all your files, they will be added to your Connected backup set. You can double-check this by launching Connected, and clicking on the Backup View tab. The choose Explore to pick files. on the left side of the screen to verify that the files you want backed up have a green checkmark next to them.
