How to resize document to print within margins in Lotus Notes

Document number: 16041

If you print a document from Lotus Notes and the printing exceeds the margins or the document prints off the page, you may be able to resize the document and reprint.  You can try resizing the document from within Lotus Notes or you can copy and paste the document into a new Microsoft Word document.

To resize the document:

  1. If you are resizing in Lotus Notes, the document needs to be put in edit mode.  To do this, open the document and hold the {Ctrl}+{E} keys down simultaneously.

  2. If you want to copy the document and paste it into Microsoft Word, highlight all of the information you need to print and select Edit from the menu bar and select Copy from the drop down menu.  Then, with a new document ready in Microsoft Word, select Edit from the menu bar and select Paste from the drop down menu.   The information has now been copied from Notes and pasted into a Word document.

  3. In either application, to show the ruler, select View from the menu bar and select Ruler from the drop down menu.

  4. Resize the document using the ruler and print it again.

The document should now print correctly.   Please note that resizing the document may not always work to make it print within the margins.  Be sure to keep a copy of the original document before you attempt to resize it.
