How to enable the Lock ID feature in Lotus Notes
As a security measure, the Lock ID feature in Lotus Notes should be enabled. The Lock ID feature locks the ID after a specified amount of inactivity. The Lotus Notes password will be required to unlock the ID and access Notes if it has not been used for the amount of time specified. If the workspace is not locked prior to leaving the office or if Notes has not been used for awhile, Notes cannot be accessed with the locked ID file without the password being entered.
To enable the Lock ID feature:
Click File from the menu bar.
Select Preferences from the drop down list and select User Preferences... from the next drop down list.
Enter the number of minutes Notes should be idle before the ID is locked in the Lock ID after ___ minutes of inactivity field to the right of the Security Options button.
Click OK.
The Lotus Notes ID will now lock and the password will be required when Notes is idle for the amount of time specified.
Locking the Lotus Notes ID and workspace are the best way to prevent unauthorized use of the Lotus Notes ID. For information on how to lock and unlock the Lotus Notes workspace, see Eureka! document 16075 — How to lock and unlock your Lotus Notes workspace.
