How to run a NorthStar client report and import into Excel
You may download NorthStar client data returned from a query (search) into a file for viewing in or importation to another program, such as Excel. Note that an extremely large number of results can take a very long time to download, and is not advisable over RAS. Follow these steps:
Run your query (search). For more information about running queries, see Eureka! document 15070 — How to create and use queries in NorthStar client.
Once your search is complete, click on the File menu, and then on Print.
If you don't specify a path, the default one is generally c:\user\northstar.
Note: The .csv file extension will not appear unless you type it in. If you wish to view the downloaded results in Excel, you must type in .csv at the end of the file name and choose the Column Headings and Use Comma Separated Format. If you do not make ALL those choices, you will be required to convert the file before being able to view it in Excel and the formatting may not be that readable.
Click OK.
Once the report is complete, launch Excel and open the file you created.
Format your report as you like and save it in the Excel .xls extension.
You should be able view, format, save, and print your report in Excel.
