The Lotus Notes cache stores various elements of databases to help improve performance when accessing the database in the future.  The cache may grow too large or may contain corrupted data; therefore, it should periodically be deleted.

To find and delete the Lotus Notes cache:

1. Exit Lotus Notes completely.

   • Note:  Lotus Notes must not be opened when the cache is being deleted as further corruption can occur.

2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the c:\apps\notes\data directory.

3. Scroll in the right side pane until you see the cache.dsk file.

   • If you do not find the cache.dsk file in the c:\apps\notes\data directory, it should be located in the c:\lotus\notes\data directory.

4. Right mouse click on the cache.dsk file and select Delete from the drop down menu.

   • Note:  Be sure that it is the cache.dsk file that is highlighted.  The cache.ntf must not be removed.

5. A pop-up window appears asking " Are you sure you want to send 'cache.dsk' to the Recycle Bin?". Click Yes.

6. Reboot your computer.

The cache has now been deleted and a new one will be created the next time Notes is launched.
