How to retain Lotus Notes format when sending a web page externally

A web page may be sent in a Lotus Notes e-mail message directly from Internet Explorer (IE) and not as a URL. In order to retain the proper format of the web page when it is sent to an external address, the following must be done:

The e-mail program in Internet Explorer must be set to Lotus Notes. For information on how to set the e-mail program in IE, see Eureka! document 19041 — How to set the e-mail program to Lotus Notes in Internet Explorer.

The location document in the Personal Address Book must be edited to send in MIME format.

To send a web page directly from IE instead of as a URL:

Go to the web page that needs to be sent.
Select T ools from the menu bar and select Mail and News from the drop down menu.
Select Send Page... from the next drop down menu.

A new memo form will open with the web page showing as the text to be sent. Once the message is complete, it can be sent as a normal Lotus Notes e-mail message.

If the location document in the Personal Address Book is not edited to send in MIME format, the formatting of a web page sent externally may not be retained. The recipient of the message may not be able to see any of the links or the page itself or the format could be all over the message.

To edit the location document:

Select F ile from the menu bar.
Select M obile from the drop down menu and select L ocations... from the next drop down menu.
Double click on Office (Network) to open the document and click the Edit Location button.
Click the Mail tab.
Format for messages addressed to internet addresses: Click the down arrow and single click on MIME Format.
Click the Save and Close button.

The location document has now been changed. When sending a web page from Internet Explorer to an external address, the formatting should now be retained.
