It sometimes can be convenient to add a Mailto: link within a Lotus Notes document. When the person reading the document clicks the link, a new memo form with the entire e-mail address filled in will open.
To add a Mailto: link to a Lotus Notes document:
- Click the
New Memo button or open a
new document in a database.
- Type the word or phrase in the rich text field that should appear as the link and highlight it.
- Select
C
reate from the menu bar.
- Select
H
otspot from the drop down list and select
L
ink Hotspot from the next drop down list.
- The HotSpot Resource Link box will appear:
-
Type: Leave the type as URL which is the default.
-
Value: Type
mailto: followed by the
entire e-mail address that the users should be able to reply to without any spaces. If the full address is not entered, the link will not work properly.
- Example: Type
mailto:wonder_woman@peoplesoft.com in the value field for a new memo form for Wonder Woman to automatically open.
- Click the tiny
checkmark to the right of the Value window to save the mailto: address.
- Click the "x" in the upper right hand corner of the HotSpot Resource Link box to close it.
-
Send the new message or
save the database document.
When a user clicks the link, a new memo form will automatically open with the address entered filled in.
