All entries made on the access control list of a Lotus Notes database should be added by clicking the Add button followed by the person icon to select the names or groups directly from the PeopleSoft Directory. This will ensure that names are spelled correctly thus avoiding any access issues due to an incorrect spelling.

• No individual names should be listed in the ACL except the Database Manager(s). Wherever possible, use existing groups from the PeopleSoft Directory in the ACL. If a group does not yet exist that fits the needs of the audience, a NorthStar request should be submitted to request a new group.

• Create the Role ' dbmanager4db' and assign the Database Manager(s) to it.

• Add Notes Administrators as a Person Group and LocalDomainServers as a Mixed Group. Both should be given Manager access.
  If the database is also available through a browser, add OtherPSDomainServers as a Server Group with at least Editor access.

• Specify an Administration Server by clicking the Advanced icon on the left hand side of the ACL dialog box.

  • To determine the Administration Server, think about where the database will be deployed:
    • If it will only be on one server, specify that server to be the Administration Server.
    • If it will be within a region, the local hub server should be specified:

      AMS_HUB1/Ams/PeopleSoft for Europe
      APPHUB01/PeopleSoft for North America
      SYD_HUB1/Aus/PeopleSoft for AsiaPac

    • If the database will be in more than one region or will also be seen using a browser, specify APPHUB01/PeopleSoft as the Administration Server.

• On the Advanced tab, deselect Enforce a consistent Access Control List across all replicas of this database so that an " x" does not appear. This is especially important if different types of access are required for the replicas.
