Announcements are one-way communication in Sametime Connect that do not usually require a response. The option to allow people to send a response is available, if needed. Use an announcement if you need to quickly communicate information to people without generating a discussion. You can send announcements to people on your buddy list in the Active or Away online status. If someone is in Do Not Disturb status or Offline, you may not send them an announcement.

To send an announcement in Sametime Connect:

1. Click on the names of the people in your buddy list to whom you want to send the announcement.
   To select multiple names, press the {Ctrl} key while clicking on each name.

2. Click the blue megaphone (Announcement) icon.
   OR
   Select M eeting from the menu bar and select Send an Anno uncement... from the drop down list.

3. Enter your message in the text window.

4. Select Allow people to respond to me if you want to allow people to respond.

5. Click the S end button.

The announcement has been sent. Recipients will be able to respond to the announcement if you have selected that option. A response to an announcement will appear in a regular chat window and will not retain the original annoucement message.
