How to change the settings for the Postini SPAM/Junk Email filter

Document number: 16265

The default filter setting for the Postini SPAM/Junk Email filter tool is just above lenient. Although the filter settings can be changed to be very lenient/off or very aggressive, modifying them to be more lenient (less effective) than the default goes against the Acceptable Use Policy. Please review this policy before making any changes.

Acceptable Use Policy

There are five different filter categories that can be changed:

To change the filter setting for one or all of the categories:

  1. Log into the Postini SPAM/Junk Email filter message center by clicking the Quarantine folder on the left side of your Lotus Notes Inbox.

  2. Enter your network User Name and Password when prompted at the Planet PeopleSoft login page.

  3. Click the Junk Email Settings link near the upper left side of the screen.

  4. Click the radio button that applies to the leniency or aggressiveness desired for the filter.
    • Lenient: Lenient settings will allow more SPAM/Junk Email email into your inbox. There is less chance that "legitimate" messages will be unnecessarily directed to your quarantine in the message center as SPAM/Junk Email.
    • Note: Modifying the settings to be more lenient (less effective) than the default setting is against the Acceptable Use Policy.
    • Aggressive: Aggressive settings allow fewer SPAM/Junk Email messages into your inbox. There is greater chance that legitimate email could be mistakenly identified as SPAM/Junk Email and delivered to your quarantine in the message center.

  5. Click the Save Changes button.

The change has been made. As new messages are filtered that meet the new criteria for the modified setting, they will appear in the Quarantined view in your Postini message center.
