The Project Manager's Workbench has been around for a over year and there are still four common mistakes many project managers make! You need to do your part to avoid them and save the company some money as it takes a surprising amount of time and energy to correct these errors.
The following are the top four Project Manager Workbench mistakes:

Changing the total number of hours reported by a consultant: It is acceptable to move hours around between activities and projects, but you need to be absolutely sure that the consultant ends up with the same number of hours that they started with. If you change the total number number of hours,
none of the hours will be billed. A permanent fix to verify this is being researched. In the meantime, your help is needed to prevent the problem in the first place.

Using the mouse to jump from one change to another: If the mouse is used to move from one field to another after making a change instead of tabbing out of the field, the system may duplicate the transaction. This can be very hard to diagnose and repair.
Keep your fingers on the keyboard and off the mouse when making changes.

Changing fixed fee project hours to nonbillable: Time marked billable and charged to a fixed fee project will not cause an invoice to be generated. Whether or not an invoice is generated is determined by how the contract/project is set up, not by the billable/nonbillable flag. Unfortunately,
when a project manager marks the time unbillable, it does not get properly costed or reported in eReports.

Changing (checking or unchecking the Optimization or ICP flags) on the project setup panel: This is maintained by the SCA who has clear instructions on when and when not to check these boxes. The project manager should request changes through the SCA and should
never change them directly. These flags impact reporting accuracy.
By paying attention and avoiding the mistakes mentioned above, the whole process will run more smoothly, efficiently, and accurately.
