How to Change Full Time or Part Time Status

Document number: 17058

Managers will be able to change the status of full or part time employees using the Job Change Application within Manager Self Service.

To Change Full/Part Time Status:

  1. Log onto Planet PeopleSoft.  For more information, see Eureka! document 15270 — How to log on to Planet PeopleSoft.

  2. Locate the Planet Navigator on the left hand side of your Planet page.

  3. Click on Applications to see a list of available applications. Access to the applications listed are role based.  If you do not have access to applications that you need you must submit a NorthStar ticket.

  4. Click on Human Resources Self-service (HRMS)

  5. Select Self Service > Manager > Task > Change Full/Part Time Status.

  6. Indicate the effective date of the change in the Date Change Will Take Effect field, then click Go.

  7. Click on the Name of the employee.

  8. Enter the new value for Standard Hours. Anything less than the full time hours for that country is considered part time. When a request for change in full or part time hours is received by Employee Information Management, they will decrease/increase the salary by the same percentage as the decrease/increase in hours.
  9. Upon the effective date of this request, the employee's benefits and compensation will need to be updated manually by the HR contact. Should the new monthly amount of pay not be in direct alignment with the new weekly hours, you must enter an Employee Salary change. An example of Salary not in alignment with hours: a change from 40 hours a week to 20 hours a week is a 50% reduction in hours, however, if the pay is reduced by 40%, the new salary should be submitted through an Employee Salary change.

Note: All countries have a 40 hour minimum work week for full time employees unless noted below:

    • France - 35
    • Japan - 35
    • Sweden - 37.5
    • United Kingdom - 37.5
    • Brazil - 44
    • Belgium - 38

  10. Enter a new Status for the employee.

  11. Click the Submit button.

  12. Click OK.
