Add an AutoCorrect entry

Document number: 18045

The AutoCorrect feature in all Microsoft Office97 products automatically correct common misspellings and words that are incorrectly capitalized. You can also use this feature to replace text with symbols and replace errors in plural and possessive words.

The PeopleSoft default setup of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access have the AutoCorrect tool already enabled.

This process is the same for all Office 97 products.

To add an AutoCorrect entry:

  1. From Tools on the menu bar, select AutoCorrect.
  2. Enter in the incorrect spelling of words in the Replace field. These would be words that you either commonly misspell or even mis-type. A good example of this is the pre-programmed correction of "teh" automatically being corrected to "the".
  3. Enter the correct spelling of the word in the With field. You may need to click in the Plain Text radio button to make your changes.
  4. Click on the Add button.
  5. You may repeat steps 2 - 4 for additional words you want AutoCorrect to recognize and correct.
  6. When you are done making changes, click on the OK button.

See document 18051 — Additional information about the AutoCorrect feature in Office 97 for information on Removing Words from Auto Correct, and Turning off the AutoCorrect feature.
