Additional information about the AutoCorrect feature in Office97

The AutoCorrect feature in many Microsoft Office 97 products automatically correct common misspellings and words that are incorrectly capitalized. You can also use this feature to replace text with symbols and replace errors in plural and possessive words.


The PeopleSoft default setup of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access have the AutoCorrect tool already enabled.

Removing words from the AutoCorrect feature:

  1. From the Tools menu, select AutoCorrect.
  2. Using the scroll bar on the right side of the word list, locate the incorrect spelling/capitalization you want removed from AutoCorrect.
  3. Select the incorrect word by clicking on it once.
  4. Click on the Delete button.
  5. Repeat steps 2 - 4 for additional words to remove from AutoCorrect.
  6. When you are done editing the AutoCorrect word list, click on the OK button to save your changes.

Turning off the AutoCorrect feature:

  1. From the Tools menu, select AutoCorrect.
  2. Un-mark the check mark next to Replace text as you type.
  3. Click on the OK button.

This will turn off the AutoCorrect feature. To reactive this feature in future sessions, you must re-check the same box.
