ERROR: OLE automation operation - File name or class name not found or Can't create object

The Vantive error messages "File name or class name not found during OLE automation operation" and "OLE automation error - Can't create object" can occur for various reasons.

For information on resolving the errors, click on the operating system you are using:

WINDOWS NT 3.51
WINDOWS NT 4.0
WINDOWS 95

 

 


WINDOWS NT 3.51

  1. Open File Manager from the Main program group.

  2. Click on File and select Search.

  3. If using Search For, type in C:\APPS\NOTES\ DATA or if you are using Start From, type in C:\.

  4. The file to search for is either Notesw32.reg or Notesw16.reg. Be sure the Search All Subdirectories box is checked. If you have two or more drives you will need to search each one.

  5. Double-click on the . reg file that's in your directory so that the registry information will be loaded.

WINDOWS 95

  1. Open Windows Explorer by clicking the right mouse button over the Start button and select Explore.

  2. Select Tools from the menu bar.

  3. Select Find from the drop down menu and select Files or Folders... from the next drop down menu.

  4. Type Notesw*.reg in the Named: field.  Make sure you include the asterisk (*) at the end of Notesw.

  5. Type C:\ in the Look in: field.

  6. Once the .reg file has been found, double-click on it so that the registry information will be loaded.
