Note: This document relates to Microsoft Word 97. A similar error occurs in Microsoft Word 2000 - see Eureka! document 25066 — ERROR: Word could not load this add-in program...DWord20N.WLL.

The problem causing the error Word could not load this add-in program. (C:\Apps\Office97\...DWord10N.wll) that appears when you launch documents in Microsoft Word 97 can be resolved by deleting that file from your computer. Follow these steps:

1. Close Microsoft Word.

2. Launch My Computer.

3. Navigate to the c:\apps\office97\office\startup directory.

4. Highlight the file dword10n.wll in that directory by clicking on it once with your mouse.

5. Press the { Delete} key.

6. If the message "Are you sure you want to send 'dword10n.wll' to the Recycle Bin?" appears, click Yes.

 

The error should no longer appear when you launch documents in Microsoft Word 97.
