Norton Anti Virus Corp Edition Installer: There was an error loading the NAVINST extension DLL - Windows Installer Error 25002

is caused by a problems with the Windows Installer version on your Windows 2000 machine. To resolve the issue, you must install a newer version of the Microsoft Windows Installer software. The new Installer software is part of the Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 package. Installing the most current Windows Service Pack package is the preferred method for fixing this problem, assuming you are in a PeopleSoft office. For more information about installing the latest Windows Service Pack, see Eureka! document 69026 — Update Service Pack. NOTE: You should install the Windows Service Pack package from only a PeopleSoft office connection. It is recommended that you NOT install this package via VPN, RAS, or ISDN as it is a very large a complex package. It takes about an hour to load while in the office.

If you are unable to install the latest Windows Service Pack, you can install the Windows Installer software from the Software Library in Lotus Notes. That package doesn't take as long.

Open Lotus Notes, then open the Software Library by clicking the bookmark link.

You may need to look in your databases folder for the Software library bookmark .

Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.
Scroll until you see the entry Microsoft Installer, MSI and double-click on it to open it.
Follow the instructions on the page to install the software. Be sure to install the correct software.

Once you have installed the Windows Installer software and have rebooted, the error should no longer appear.
