ERROR: Component not correctly registered
The difficulty you are experiencing is that when you launch Microsoft PowerPoint or Excel, you receive the Visual Basic error Component not correctly registered.
To resolve this, load Visual Basic runtime files from the Software Library. Follow these steps to load the fix:
If you don't have the Software Library bookmark see document 16250 — How to add the Software Library database link to Lotus Notes for instructions on installing the Software library bookmark.
Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.
Scroll until you see the entry Visual Basic Runtime Files and double-click on it to open it.
Click on the button labeled Load VB 6.0 Runtime files.
A DOS screen and WinInstall will appear briefly.
Wait for the installation to complete.
Reboot your machine.
Once the installation is complete and you have rebooted, the error should no longer appear.
If the error still appears, and you are running Excel, click here.
If you are not running Excel, you may need to uninstall and reinstall Office. See Eureka! document 15134 — How to install or reinstall Microsoft Office from the Software Library.
If the error still appears after loading the Visual Basic runtime files, a third party add-in can be the cause of this error. You need to stop the add-in from loading when Excel launches. Follow these steps:
Launch Excel.
Click past the error and click on the Tools menu.
Click on Add Ins...
If there is no such add-in, close the Add-Ins dialog box and close Excel. Reinstall Microsoft Office. See Eureka! document 15134 — How to install or reinstall Microsoft Office from the Software Library.
Click OK.
Close all instances of Excel on your machine.
The next time you launch Excel, the error should no longer appear. If the error still occurs, reboot and try again. If the error still occurs, you may need to reinstall Microsoft Office. See Eureka! document 15134 — How to install or reinstall Microsoft Office from the Software Library.
