Note: This document relates to Microsoft Word 2000. A similar error occurs in Microsoft Word 97 - see Eureka! document 25039 — ERROR: Word could not load this add-in program...DWord10N.WLL.

The problem causing the error Word could not load this add-in program. C:\Apps\Office2000\...DWord20N.wll) that appears when you launch documents in Microsoft Word 2000 can be resolved by deleting that file from your computer. Follow these steps:

1. Close Microsoft Word.

2. Launch My Computer.

3. Navigate to the c:\apps\office2000\office\startup directory.
• If the file does not appear in that directory, search for the file on your computer:
  • Click on Start, then Sear ch, and then For Files or Folders...
  • Enter the name of the file in the Search for files or folders na med:

  • Click Search Now button.

4. Highlight the file dword20n.wll in that directory by clicking on it once with your mouse.

5. Press the { Delete} key.

6. If the message "Are you sure you want to send 'dword20n.wll' to the Recycle Bin?" appears, click Yes.

 

The error should no longer appear when you launch Microsoft Word.
