ERROR: B-tree structure is invalid
The Lotus Notes error message "B-tree structure is invalid" has a few causes depending on when it is received:
The Inbox has accidentally been deleted and the screen refreshed. Although a prompt that says, "Are you sure you want to remove Inbox and its contents?" appears, Y es is selected anyway and the Inbox is gone.
To resolve the error if the Inbox is missing, contact Technical Support Operations so a new Inbox can be created.
Note: If the Inbox is missing, a user will still receive new mail. All new mail will appear in the All Docs view. Once the new Inbox is created, the user can manually move the documents from All Docs back to the Inbox by dragging and dropping them.
If the error appears when trying to open the mail file, it indicates that the Personal Address Book is corrupt although it opens fine.
To resolve the error due to a corrupt Personal Address Book, a new one must be created. For additional information, see Eureka! document 20023 — Lotus Notes errors due to Personal Address book being corrupt.
If the error is received when trying to open the mail file archive, it indicates that the archive has an outdated design or is nearing the 1 GB size.
To resolve the error if it is being received opening the archive, contact Technical Support Operations for further assistance.
