ERROR: Cought an exception (VC_Error) or **The dynamic link library vc_commn.dll could not be found...

Symptom:

One of the following error messages display when a user attempts to view a Recorded Webcast or training via Enterprise Webcast (Interwise):

These errors indicate that the user does not have the latest version of the participant software installed on his/her machine.

Resolution:

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below to upgrade the Enterprise Webcast (Interwise) participant.

  1. Right mouse click on the " i" icon in the system tray. It will either be two shades of gray or yellow and green.

  2. Select Close from the pop up list. The icon will disappear.

  3. Log in to Planet PeopleSoft.

  4. Locate PlanetNavigator on the left hand side and click the Meetings link under Employee Resources.

  5. Scroll down to the the Web Conferencing section.

  6. Click the Go directly to Enterprise Webcast (Interwise) link.

    If the Communications Center window does not open or if an error appears that says "Invalid user name or password," go back to the Web Conferencing page in Planet and click the Learn about Web Conferencing link, then click New user account.

  7. Click the Getting Ready link in the left hand navigation window of the Communications Center.

  8. Click the Download button and click Yes if the Security Warning window appears that asks to trust content from InstallShield Software Corporation.

  9. Click the InstallShield wizard button.

    1. Click Next> when the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Interwise Participant screen appears.

    2. Click Yes to accept the license agreement to begin the installation.

    3. Change the Destination Folder to c:\apps\interwise\student.

    4. Click Finish when the installation has completed.

    5. Click the Continue button to complete the software installation.

The upgrade is now complete and the error message should no longer display.
