The following Lotus Notes error messages occur when the location document has been modified to send Internet messages in MIME format instead of in Notes rich text format:

• You have requested to sign this Internet message, but your current ID does not contain or does not specify an Internet certificate for signing. Select OK to send the message anyway. Select Cancel to not send the message.

• MIME warning: The items listed can not be saved as MIME. Continue?

To resolve the error, the location document should be modified so that Internet messages are sent in Notes rich text.

To change the location document:

1. Click the current location noted in the bottom right hand corner of the Lotus Notes window. It will typically be Office or Island.

2. Select Edit Current... from the pop up list.

3. Click the Mail tab.

4. Format for messages addressed to internet addresses: Click the down arrow and select Notes Rich Text Format.

5. Click the Save and Close button.

The correct format for outgoing external mail is now set. The error message should no longer be received.
