Blank error message during control data refresh in MTE

Document number: 26813

Symptom:
After clicking OK to refresh the control data in Mobile Time and Expense (MTE), a blank and non-specific error appears. The error is a dialog box that says Mobile Time & Expense as the header and contains only an exclamation point in a yellow triangle without any specific message.

Cause:
The installation of new applications or a rebuild of the machine may cause corruption of the .dll and visual basic runtime files.

Resolution:
To resolve the issue, the visual basic runtime files must be re-loaded. MTE must also be uninstalled and reinstalled:

  1. Copy the pstemobl.mdb file located in the C:\Program Files\PeopleSoft Applications\Mobile Time and Expense folder to the C:\Temp directory or another location on your computer.

  2. Open the Software Library database in Lotus Notes.
  3. Click the Standard Software Package Installs icon.

  4. Scroll down to the Visual Basic Runtime Files entry and double click to open it.

  5. Click the Load VB 6.0 Runtime files button.

  6. Uninstall Mobile Time and Expense through Add/Remove Programs via the Control Panel.
For additional information, see Eureka! document 69004 — How to uninstall and install software.

  7. Reinstall MTE from the Software Library in Lotus Notes.
For additional information, see Eureka! document 17304 — Upgrade/Reinstallation of Mobile Time and Expense (reinstall link).

  8. Reboot your machine after the reinstall of MTE is complete.

  9. Copy the pstemobl.mdb file from the C:\Temp directory that was copied in step 1 back to the C:\Program Files\PeopleSoft Applications\Mobile Time and Expense folder.

  10. Launch MTE and do a Refresh Control Data after logging in.

If the blank error continues to appear after following the steps above, please contact Technical Support Operations or log a NorthStar ticket so the issue can be resolved.
