ERROR: Themes caused an invalid page fault...
The error " This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor. THEMES caused an invalid page fault in module THEMES.EXE at 0157:0040abc6" is caused by a conflict between two files on your machine.
Desktop Themes, included in Microsoft Plus! For Windows 95, is designed to work with a JPEG filter called Jpegim32.flt. When Microsoft Office 97 was installed, a new version of the Jpegim32.flt JPEG filter was installed, replacing the old Jpegim32.flt file.
Because of the way in which the old Themes.exe program calls the JPEG filter, Themes.exe causes an invalid page fault if the new Jpegim32.flt filter is installed. The updated versions of Themes.exe are available by checking by your operating system below:
To resolve this error, you must install a patch from Microsoft. To install the patch, click here.
Once your computer is back on, Themes will now work correctly and the error should no longer appear.
