The following Microsoft Word errors occur because one or more files that Word uses to start the program and open documents has been corrupted.

• " Word encountered file corruption while opening C:\apps\office97\office\startup\psutils.dot"
• " Word encountered file corruption while opening C:\apps\office97\office\startup\pstabs.dot"

To resolve either error message, you need to reinstall the PeopleSoft Templates.

If reinstalling the templates does not resolve your error, you will need to reinstall Microsoft Office97.

The entry below points to the Software Library in Lotus Notes. The Software Library contains documents that contain buttons to click on to install the desired software. The buttons all assume that you have mapped your P: drive to a PeopleNet32 directory on your nearest server.

1. In the Software Library view by Package Name.
2. Scroll down to Microsoft Office - All Versions.
3. In the Office 97 Packages section, click on the PeopleSoft Templates button.

This will reinstall the standard PeopleSoft Templates (including psutils.dot and pstabs.dot) into C:\Apps\Office97\Templates\Peoplesoft Templates.

 

If reinstalling the templates does not resolve your error, you will need to reinstall Microsoft Office97.

1. In the Software Library view by Package Name.
2. Scroll down to Microsoft Office - All Versions.
3. In the Office 97 Packages section, click on the Office 97 w/SR1 & SR2 button.

Reinstalling the templates and/or Office97 will resolve these errors.
