Error 797: The modem could not be found.
The error message you are receiving Error 797 connection device not found or Error 797: The modem could not be found. is most likely due to the failure of your PCMCIA or internal modem. To solve this, you will need to have your modem replaced. Before replacing your modem, however, shut down, power-off and restart the computer. When the logon screen appears check the box to "Logon using dial-up ..." so that your logon is authenticated against network information, not local cached information. Also, make sure you have reviewed the document 39032 — How to troubleshoot modem problems.
If the above steps did not correct the problem you will need open a NorthStar ticket to make an appointment for service. Be sure to include your contact number. Describe the problem in detail, especially the steps you took to try to correct the problem. You will be contacted by the appropriate party.
