If the modem doesn't work, it may be necessary to reload the original modem drivers. This is particularly likely to be necessary if the modem was working but no longer works after installing new modem drivers. Because Windows 2000 is Plug and Play you can do this simply by deleting the device then rebooting.

Force driver re-install on Windows 2000.

1. Click on the Start button, then S ettings, then Control Panel.

2. Select Administrative Tools

3. Select Computer Management

4. Select Device manager

5. Select Modems

6. Click on the modem name to select it. Press the { Delete} key.

7. Confirm that you want to delete. If there is more than one modem delete all the modems.

8. Shutdown and power off. (Be sure to power off (cold boot). You may be wasting your time if you only restart (warm boot).
