The BlackBerry handheld allows secure, wireless access to email, corporate data, phone, internet and organizer features. BlackBerry is an integrated package that includes hardware, software and service. When your Blackberry is turned on and is within network coverage email is sent from the server without you doing anything.
How is email pushed to the Blackberry?
PeopleSoft has installed the Blackberry Enterprise Server to push corporate Lotus Notes email to authorized Blackberry handhelds. This method centralizes redistribution of email to the Blackberry and improves security. Incoming email goes both through the your regular Lotus Notes email server and the Blackberry Enterprise Server. The Blackberry Enterprise server routes the mail to Blackberry for distribution over the wireless network. Using the Blackberry Enterprise Server method reduces dependence on the user's desktop for email and calendar redistribution.
