If incorrect characters are appear when you type (such as numbers instead of letters) or you cannot log into a machine to which you are connecting via PC Duo on your T40 or T41 machine, the most likely cause is that your NumLock feature is turned on. To verify, look for a small arrowhead icon with a "1" that lights up when the NumLock feature is engaged near the bottom of your built-in monitor
To turn off NumLock, look above the {F10) key on the keyboard - there is a key labeled "NumLk" and "ScrLk" in tiny letters. To toggle NumLock on and off, press { Shift} + { NumLk/ScrLk} keys.
Cause: The NumLock feature turns on automatically when you PC Duo into a machine on which NumLock is turned on. This is a known feature with IBM machines.
