Installing the Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN Card/Client
This is a Level B document - It contains moderately difficult end-user information.
Note: This document is relevant for Legacy J.D. Edwards Employees and/or machines only. The steps contained in this document are not to be implemented by Legacy PeopleSoft Employees, nor the software/hardware discussed herein installed or attached to Legacy PeopleSoft Equipment.
When using wireless the following are best practices:
The following steps will walk you through Installing the Cisco Aironet Wireless LAN Card/Client on laptops with the following wireless capabilities;
For laptops with external Cisco Aironet 350 PCMCIA cards:
Create a folder in the root of C named Wireless:
C:\wireless
Navagate to the following location;
\\corwrls1\world\Private\Global\Install\WLAN\wireless
Copy the entire contents of the folder to your new folder C:\wireless
Insert the Cisco Aironet 350 card into an available slot
Found new hardware wizard starts, click Next
Select Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver
Click Next.
Click Have Disk,
Enter the path: C:\wireless\PCMCIA\
Click OK.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Navigate to C:\wireless.
Double-click
Wireless_Install.
Note: This auto install utility will only work if there are no previous versions of the Aironet Client Utility installed. If there is a previous version, remove it via the control panel Add/Remove Programs.
When the install is complete, the laptop will reboot. When the laptop is back up, you will need to upgrade the wireless card’s firmware.
Open the Aironet Client Utility (ACU) on the desktop
Click the Load Firmware button, at the top of the window.
Navigate to C:\wireless\PCMCIA
Select 45c42530.img for the firmware image.
Click OK.
If the laptop is running Windows XP, click here for special instructions to complete the install.

For laptops with built-in Cisco Aironet wireless adapter:
Create a folder in the root of C named Wireless:
C:\wireless
Navagate to the following location;
\\corwrls1\world\Private\Global\Install\WLAN\wireless

Upgrade the built-in wireless adapter driver.
Right Click on your My Computer icon.
Click Properties.
Select the Hardware tab.
Click Add Hardware Wizard.
In the Add Hardware Wizard click Next >.
Select Display a list of the known drivers for this device so that I can choose a specific driver.
Click Next.
Click Have Disk,
Enter the path: C:\wireless\PCMCIA\
Click OK.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Navigate to C:\wireless.
Double-click
Wireless_Install.

Navigate to C:\wireless\MiniPCI.
Select 50C50003.IMG for the firmware image.
Click OK.
If the laptop is running Windows XP, click here for special instructions to complete the install.

Configuring Cisco Aironet with Windows XP
Windows XP has the ability to recognize when a wireless LAN is in range and automatically associate to it. You will need to disable this ability to auto-connect to a wireless network. This interferes with the operation of the Cisco client.
Right click on My Network Places.
Select Properties.
Right click on your wireless adapter.
Select Properties.
Click on Wireless tab.
Uncheck Allow windows to configure my wireless.
Click OK.
Open the Aironet Client Utility, by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
Click Profile Manager.
Under the Select Active Profile, in the top right of the profile manager, uncheck Allow Windows to Configure my Wireless Network Settings.
Click
Apply.
Note: if the LEAP authentication window does not show up;
Select iPass as the active profile.
Click Apply.
Select Enterprise as the active profile.
Click Apply.
Close all open windows.
