Step-by-step guide for users new to iPass
This document is a one-shop guide for using the iPass and Cisco VPN client applications to remotely access the PeopleSoft network. You are encouraged to print these instructions and refer to them as are using these tools for the first time.
To connect to PeopleSoft securely, using the iPass and VPN client applications, follow these steps:
Launch the iPass client software by clicking on the Start menu, then Programs, then iPass, and finally, iPassConnect v3. The iPass client window opens.
You can select a number to dial in one of two ways:
By Location
Select your "Country" from the drop-down list.
If your Country has states, provinces or prefectures, select the appropriate option from the drop-down list.
Select your "City" from the drop-down list.
By Local Number (supported only for United States locations)
Note: Some countries may have an "All Cities" or "All Cities (Nationwide)" entry shown. This entry will list numbers that are valid across the country. These numbers may including toll-free or free-call numbers, but you should check with the local phone operator if the call will result in a toll charge.
Click the Find button. A list of available connection types appears in the "Phonebook" area.
Select the "Modem" option for a list of dial-up numbers. (Based on the location information you selected, a list containing Modem, ISDN, Wired Networks and other options is displayed.)
Click on one of the listed phone numbers, and press Connect.
You may choose to use the checkbox to save your password for future logins by checking the Save Password.
If you do not successfully connect, receive a busy signal, or cannot make a connection, try another number. (From time to time, a number may be temporarily out of service or all lines into one number are busy.)
Once connected, the "Cisco Systems VPN Client screen" automatically appears. Choose a location closest to you. Click on the Connect button.
Password. This is your VPN password (PIN) and number currently displayed on the face of your RSA token. (Example: If your password is "orange" and the number displayed on your token is 299595, enter orange299595 for the password.)
After entering the username and password information, click OK.
The Cisco VPN client will authenticate your login information, and once you connect, you will receive a "Cisco Systems VPN Client" window. This window contains an acknowledgment that unauthorized access is prohibited. (Click this icon for a screenshot:
.) You must click
Continue to accept the terms of use. If you do not agree, you may click

Your computer is now connected to the PeopleSoft network securely using VPN.
