How to install the Cisco VPN Client software
You may wish to PRINT these instructions before proceeding to install the current version of the Cisco VPN software. Your machine may need to reboot several times before the process is complete. You will need a SecurID token already in your possession in order to install the Cisco VPN software, and your PIN must already be established.
Note: The software is already installed on newly issued machines, and is found under Start, Programs, Cisco VPN, VPN Dialer.
Once the Cisco VPN client software is properly installed and configured, you will be able to "tunnel" into the PeopleSoft network successfully. You will be downloading a new file via the internet, and then the installation program will run locally. To install the Cisco VPN client, follow these steps:
Close all other applications and files. (The installation will force an immediate reboot once the client installs -- you do not have an opportunity to save files or close applications you may be working on.)
Connect to the internet. (You do not have to be on the PeopleSoft network.)
Use Internet Explorer to navigate to http://news.peoplesoft.com.
Log onto the PeopleSoft RSA server using your Username (network name) and Passcode (PIN + current token number).
Once you have successfully logged on, you should see the link Click here to download the Cisco 4.04D VPN Client software. Click on the link.
A "File Download" screen appears. Click the Save button.
Navigate to the c:\temp directory to place the installation file and click Save.
When the download is complete, the screen will be titled "Download complete". Click Open.
The downloaded file will extract, automatically begin installing, and once complete, reboot your machine IMMEDIATELY.
Your machine will reboot.
The installation is complete and you can use the Cisco software to connect to the PeopleSoft network via VPN. For instructions on logging in using the Cisco VPN client, see Eureka! document 54109 — How to log in using the Cisco VPN client.
Note: The Nortel VPN Client software is no longer available. If you already have the Nortel VPN client installed on your machine, this installation will remove the Nortel VPN client, reboot your machine, install the Cisco VPN client, and then need to be rebooted again (this may be automatic, otherwise, you will be prompted to reboot your machine.) You cannot have both the Nortel VPN and Cisco VPN clients installed on the same machine at the same time. Also, if you have an older version of Cisco on your machine, your older version will be removed, the machine will reboot, the newer version will be installed, and then the machine will reboot again.
