Document number: 54129

There are a few issues that can be resolved by toggling transparent tunneling on or off within your Cisco VPN client. While these are not common issues, symptoms that have been resolved by changing your transparent tunneling settings include:

When changing the setting, you should not be logged in via VPN. To toggle the VPN transparent tunneling, follow these steps:

  1. Launch the Cisco VPN Dialer by clicking Start, then Programs, then Cisco VPN, and then VPN Client.

  2. You should see the following screen, or one similar:

    Cisco Advanced Mode

    • If you do not see this screen, press {Ctrl}-{M}.

  3. Right-click on the desired Connection Entry and choose Modify...

  4. Click on the "Transport" tab.

  5. Deselect, or select, the Enable Transparent Tunneling check-box.

  6. If you select the box, make sure that IPSec over TCP is also chosen. The TCP Port is 443.

  7. Click Save, and reconnect using your VPN Dialer.
