Before reporting a problem with the FTP server in a NorthStar ticket, try the following things to try to pinpoint the problem. If Technical Support Operations cannot help you, your ticket will be escalated to the appropriate group.

• Ping the server by name ( ftp.peoplesoft.com)

  • This will rule out DNS and IP connectivity problems and network problems.

• Log onto the FTP server via DOS as "anonymous."
  • Click here for instructions on doing that (document 55035)
  • This rules out a client problem
  • Use DOS commands to test the access
    • Type help
      • This tests the FTP channel
    • Type ls, cd, or get
      • This tests the FTP_DATA channel
    • Type put
      • This tests file permissions
