Note: The legacy RAS (dial-up networking) and PeopleSoft RAS Connection Manager (also known as PSRC or PSRCM) are in the process of being retired. To standardize dial-up access, the integrated PeopleSoft company is deploying iPass and VPN as the dial-up solution. When trying to RAS into the PeopleSoft network, if you receive the error message

Operator Assisted or Manual Dial
Pick up the handset and dial (or ask the operator to dial). Press OK immediately after dialing, then replace the handset ...

you need to make sure that you have not chosen the O perator assisted or manual dialing option in dial-up networking.

 

Click the operating system you are running and follow the detailed steps.

WINDOWS NT 4.0
WINDOWS 2000

WINDOWS NT 4.0

To turn off the Operator assisted or manual dialing option, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Start menu, then on Programs, then Accessories, and finally on Dial-Up Networking.

2. Click on the More button.

3. Deselect O perator assisted or manual dialing by clicking on it. There should be no check mark next to the option.

 

RAS into the network as your normally would. The error message should no longer appear.

WINDOWS 2000

To turn off the Operator-Assisted Dialing option, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Start menu, then on Settings, and then on Network and Dial-up Connections.

2. Click on the Adva nced menu.

3. Click on O perator-Assisted Dialing so that a checkmark does NOT appear.

 

RAS into the network as your normally would. The error message should no longer appear.
