ERROR: The computer you are dialing in to is not answering...
Note: The legacy RAS (dial-up networking) and PeopleSoft RAS Connection Manager (also known as PSRC or PSRCM) are in the process of being retired. To standardize dial-up access, the integrated PeopleSoft company is deploying iPass and VPN as the dial-up solution. If you are receiving the error message The computer you are dialing in to is not answering. Try again later , check your dial-up settings they are correct. To check your dial-up settings:
Click on the Start menu, then on Programs, then on Accessories, and finally, Dial-Up Networking.
Remember that if you are in the United States and you are calling a toll-free number (800 or 888 area code), there must be a 1 before the area code. For example, the Pleasanton toll free RAS number is 1-800-727-7638.
Click on the Location: button.
The Location screen appears. Incorrect information in any of the fields on this screen may cause this error. Check these items:
For example, home or work or hotel.
Have you chosen the right area code for the location you are dialing from?
Have you chosen the right country in the I am in: field?
For example, most hotels require that you dial 9 before dialing an outside number. The PeopleSoft corporate offices require you to dial an 8 before dialing an outside number.
Is there a check mark in the box next to Dial using a Calling Card? If so, make sure that you have entered the correct information for using the Calling Card. If you are not using a Calling Card, make sure this box does not have a check mark in it.
Is there a check mark in the box next to This location has call waiting? If so, make sure that you have entered the correct code in the To disable it, dial: field. If your location does not have call waiting, make sure that this box does not have a check mark in it.
Does your location use Tone or Pulse dialing? Most phone lines use Tone dialing. Be sure to indicate the correct type of dialing system. If you are not sure, you may need to contact the telecommunications administrator for the building you are dialing from.
Once you correct information on the screen, the error message should no longer appear when you dial into the network.
