When you log onto the PeopleSoft network from any PeopleSoft office, you are given an "IP Address." That address is reserved for you for anywhere from 4 hours to 3 days. That means that no one else can use that address for that period of time. Since we have a finite number of addresses at each office, as a courtesy, if you are visiting an office, please release your IP address after you have finished using the network and before shutting down your machine so that others may have access to that IP address.

1. Click the Start menu, select Programs, choose Accessories, and finally, Command Prompt.

2. At the DOS prompt, type ipconfig /release{ Enter} to release the current IP address from your network card.

3. Then type ipconfig and view the resulting screen to confirm that you no longer have an IP address (the IP address fields should read " 0.0.0.0") .

4. Type exit{ Enter} to close the Command Prompt window.

5. If you need to renew your IP address, click here for instructions.

6. Shut down your machine.

 

Your IP address should be properly released.

Renew your IP Address

From the same DOS prompt:

1. Type ipconfig /renew { Enter}.

2. Then type ipconfig and view the resulting screen to confirm that you have a new IP address.

3. Type exit{ Enter} to close the Command Prompt window.

 

You should have a new IP address.
